“Working with Ralph + Smith has been a great experience. Chloe’s ideas and concepts perfectly reflected our needs and ambitions for a vibrant and contemporary space whilst still ensuring functionality and practicality. Claire’s attention to detail and management of the budget ensured that we got the very best available to us.

Their confident ability to manage the project meant that as clients, we were fully informed and consulted without the headache of having to manage all of the details and they developed a fantastic working relationship with our contractors, ensuring the project was delivered on time and within budget. They really understood our vision and specifications and have delivered an incredible space”.

ideaSpace is managed and operated by Cambridge Enterprise, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Cambridge. The ideaSpace community is one of the UK’s leading spaces for impact entrepreneurs across their co-working sites in Cambridge.

Our design brief was to create an open plan working environment to encourage communication and collaboration amongst the ideaSpace members.

We wanted members to feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging. A concierge style reception desk formed the backdrop to the central meeting rooms. Angled walls helped create a softer entrance and create interesting nooks and hideaway spaces.

The workspace provides each member with a desk and locker, and away-from-desk focus and collaboration zones encouraging interaction with other members.

The finishes have been carefully selected to create a stimulating, warm and inviting atmosphere. The subtle branding creates an important identity for ideaSpace, and the freedom to allow new ventures to feel it’s a space to start-up and flourish.
